Doing the work that allows you to do the work

There is work underneath the work - tasks, routines, habits and rituals that do not appear to directly reflect on the bottom line of productivity. In fact, on the surface they appear to take time away from productivity. However, they have a profound, positive impact on productivity, success, happiness and more.

It's easy to deflect them. It's tempting to say "not now,"  "later," or "I'm too busy."

That's what most people do. But YOU'RE NOT MOST PEOPLE!

These habits are critical to your success.

For example, taking time to workout and eat healthy. It's tempting to grab something on the run or skip the workout but at some point, you realize you're not operating at 100%. You don't have enough energy to carry yourself throughout your busy day. You feel burned out. A heath condition sneaks up on you. In addition to having to take time and money to treat said condition, your doctor tells you you must make some changes "or else."

A simple example is taking time each day to organize your day and determine your priorities. It's enticing to jump into your day with both feet and start getting things done. Nevertheless, how much more productive and effective would you be if you spent 15 minutes a day organizing your thoughts, tasks, papers, emails, etc. so that you know your top priorities and crushed those right out of the gate? I mean giving priority to the stuff that really makes a difference in the results you get, moving the needle in your life and business, and not just the busy work or whatever the world demands of you in that moment.

Even more basic to your success than health and setting priorities is your mindset.

What habits and rituals do you have in place to safeguard how you think? Your values and beliefs? Your spin on the facts at hand?

A poor mindset poisons everything it contacts.

A negative outlook, blah energy, consuming fear, scarcity-driven beliefs, and being predominantly doubtful versus faith-driven will absolutely BLOCK you from building the life you desire.

We all feel those things from time to time (hence the suggested practices below) but you must not operate from that mindset as a rule of thumb.

Everything starts with your mindset. Protect and guide it with a ritual that ensures you direct it where you want it to go.

This is the most important work you can do that allows you to do the work you were meant to do.

There are many tools you can use in this quest. A few include:

  • Incantations
  • Reading/Learning
  • Listening to something positive (podcasts, audio books, music, YouTube videos)
  • Journaling I am statements (I am healthy and fit. I am a compelling coach. I am smart.)
  • Journaling gratitude for what is
  • Journaling gratitude for what is to come
  • Writing what you want as if it has already happened.
  • Posting reminders of the above where you see them often
  • Get a coach and talk regularly

It's important that whatever tool you use, you do so consistently. And make it non-negotiable.

You'll be amazed at how quickly a practice like this will turn things around for you.

I am shocked sometimes at how badly a client will SAY they want something, But then totally not be willing to do the work to get it.

"Stacie, I would do anything to have x." ... "But I won't do that."

UGH! [insert coach scream here]

Do the mindset work! Do the work that allows you to do the work you were meant to do. Set yourself up for a successful day and life.

Because when you do - the doors to success open up wide and invite you to walk through. The foundation is laid. The quest gets so much easier. The journey gets even better than you imagined.

Success and winning is the culmination of several things: a strong mindset, a positive spin on the facts, and consistent action.
