Which profile are you?

DISC helps you align your energy and your work to reflect what matters most to you.

Recognize what makes you successful and find ways to achieve objectives that resonate with your passions.

Combine identifying your natural behaviors with knowing what intrinsically motivates you and you'll go further faster than ever before.

Said differently:

Align WHAT you value with HOW you want it and BOOM!

A Detailed Look at DISC & Motivators

The DISC report helps you interpret how you do what you do in terms of the amount of life energy you invest in the way you behave, based on your needs. The Motivators report helps you interpret why you do what you do in terms of the amount of life energy you invest in the way you behave, based on your values.

Research shows that most successful people share the common trait of self-awareness.

They recognize the situations that will make them successful. This makes it easier for them to find ways to achieve objectives that resonate with their passions.

They also understand their limitations. Where they are indifferent on the Values Scale determines where not to focus time and energy, thus maximizing all their eggs in the right basket at business and in life.

Those who understand what motivates them best are far more likely to pursue the right opportunities for the right reasons, and to attain the results they desire. Individuals who are properly aligned with regard to their personal value system and motivators will achieve more by accident than a misaligned individual can do on purpose.

You can align yourself with success.

Knowing what matters most to you will enhance your performance by helping you attain better behavioral and emotional alignment with those jobs and opportunities about which you are most passionate.

DISC is a simple, practical, easy to remember and universally applicable model. Based on the research of Dr. William Moulton Marston, DISC is the most widely-used behavior identification tool of its kind, supported by decades of research and continuous validation.

It focuses on individual patterns of external, observable behaviors and measures the intensity of characteristics using scales of directness and openness for each of the four styles:

  • Dominance: How you address problems and challenges.
  • Influence: How you handle situations involving people and contacts.
  • Steadiness: How you demonstrate pace and consistency.
  • Conscientiousness: How you react to procedure and constraints.

The DISC Assessment and Report makes it easy to identify and understand your own style, recognize others and cognitively adapt to different styles, and develop a process to communicate more effectively with others.

People generally make the mistake of assuming that others interact and think the same way they do, and many of us grew up believing in The Golden Rule: treating others the way YOU would like to be treated. Instead, consider another practical rule to live by - what Dr. Tony Alessandra calls The Platinum Rule®: to treat others the way THEY want to be treated.

Advantages of DISC

In addition to building personal effectiveness in relationships and communication, many of the world’s most forward-thinking and successful organizations have relied upon DISC experts to provide them with distinct competitive advantages:

  • Increase Sales
  • Increase Commitment and Cooperation
  • Build Effective Teams
  • Resolve and Prevent Conflict
  • Gain Endorsement, Credibility, Rapport
  • Know or Understand Others (interpersonal skills, communication preferences, behavioral strengths, potential areas of improvement)
  • Build common language

Understand the communication preferences of others and become a more valuable leader, team member, person, partner, and friend.

The online Motivators Assessment is a result of the extensive research done by Dr. Eduard Spranger and Gordon Allport. These two researchers spent their professional lives discovering what drives and motivates all of us. These seven dimensions of values help us understand the driving force or the engine behind our passions and talents.

The Seven Values:

  • The Aesthetic Value - The underlying drive for balance, harmony, creativity and form.
  • The Economic Value - The underlying drive for economic and practical returns within the areas in which you are most vested.
  • The Individualistic Value - The underlying drive to stand out as independent, unique and outside of the box.
  • The Power Value - The underlying drive to be in control of our destiny or have influence on others.
  • The Altruistic Value - The underlying drive for humanitarian efforts and caregiving, or to help the underdog at expense of self.
  • The Regulatory Value - The underlying drive to establish order, routine and structure — the black-and-white thinker.
  • The Theoretical Value - The underlying drive for knowledge and learning, and uncovering and discovering the facts.

Those motivators you find to be your highest and lowest priorities determine how to invest your life energy.

Working with Stacie has been super helpful in helping me communicate with my key managers.

The process was deceptively simple but added a ton of value to my leadership.

Myself and several of my key leaders took the DISC assessment. From there, Stacie took us on a deep dive into the communication patterns and key drivers of my team. We talked through how to more effectively communicate goals and mission objectives. I made several changes to my leadership style based on the results and the team is now more focused than ever.

Allow me to detail the most surprising example of what we changed based on the coaching.

I had just promoted a new regional manager and had her take the DISC assessment. Stacie and I reviewed the results. Stacie noticed that I was action driven with a low "C" score which made me likely to embrace change and move quickly in decision making. (I didn't need a test to tell me that.)

She pointed out that the new manager was a High "C" and a High "S" and explained to me that typically these results would suggest that this person is a cautious, stable, planner type who likes structure. This person doesn't like change and will typically resist it without a good reason for said change. Also other scores suggested that she prefers a methodical approach to problem solving which balances my desire for fast paced decision making.

Ok, great. "So I'll slow down and be more methodical in my approach. I could use that anyway.”

This person has since been promoted because she has methodically improved the company and is so stable. However, here is where the story gets good. I had passed this person over for promotion 9 months earlier!

I had previously tried to engage her in a problem and I grew frustrated with her (perceived) lack of enthusiasm and energy. I mistakenly determined she was just punching the clock and didn't really care about her work.

Stacie explained two important things to me that made a huge difference with this employee and all of my employees.

First, this employee doesn't show a lot of enthusiasm and that doesn't mean she is not proud of her work or that she isn't engaged with the company. Her DISC assessment suggests that she will always have a stable reaction to her environment and that she tends to put too much pressure on herself for perfection and that I should work to help her feel less pressure to get the most out of her.

Finally, and most importantly, my personality needs to get positive affirmation from my staff thru their excitement and enthusiasm for the company. This is clouding my ability to see a great employee because I want them to respond in the way MY personality type would. Upon hearing this I fell of my chair. I remembered a conversation I had 9 months previously when I announced I couldn't work with this person because she "just didn't care". I was comparing her behavior to my expectations based on my personal values. Wow.

Today this person is my right hand and most trusted employee.

The DISC insight into my personality and her personality changed the game for the leadership team of this company.
